Dubz Commissions FAQ

Holy crap there's so much text here...
Here you can find a handy mini guide to give you an idea of what you're getting yourself into. Most of my policies are noted down here, and official documentation can be found by clicking this link. If you still have questions, go ahead and throw them my way by sending an email to mightydubz@gmail.com, making sure to label it accordingly. When you are ready, check the Price Guide, Examples and finally the Order Form.
So, are you open for regular commissions?
Unless specifically stated in the contact section of the website, yes, always open, always happy to accept.

Can I get free art?
Nope, and may God have mercy upon your soul.

So how do your prices work?
I have a general base price for various tiers of work. Depending on the complexity of the request, the price will fluctuate. In cases of incredibly simple designs, this may fluctuate downwards, but this rarely happens.

My most common commissions are around $80, which is a single character, fully coloured and shaded with a simple splash background, like this one. There is a more detailed price list further down the page. The majority of my commissions are drawn on a pretty big printable scale, namely A4, 300dpi. This can be blown up to A3 size with little to no quality loss.

There's a more in depth price guide here, or on the official documentation.

Awesome. So, what do I need?
From you, I'll need the following things:
  • A working Paypal account (or credit card to pay the invoice I send you).
  • Your email and, if applicable, your paypal email (if they're one in the same, then just say so).
  • A decent reference sheet, or at least good reference images of the characters/ content.
  • A basic idea of what you're looking for.

What kind of stuff are you good at?
Action, harsh lines, snarly-toothy grins, making things Metal-as... Generally I tend to be commissioned to make people look pretty badass, but I'm pretty flexible in terms of subject matter. While I focus on Anthropomorphic art, I am just as capable with humans and don't pick and choose favourites based on species.

Well okay then, so what are you NOT good at?
Well, I tend to have a slightly harder time with inorganic imagery, such as vehicles, chunky real life stuff (like guns) and other things like that. I am not incapable, it's just going to take a bit longer while I procure good refs and make sure the lines work etc. Keep that in mind if you want me to draw that crazy drifting pic.

What will you absolutely not be commissioned to draw?
Sorry guys, I just cannot bring myself to draw straight up porn for profit. There's several reasons, but the main ones are that I just cannot draw male genitals, and I'm not willing to literally break the law by selling pornographic material to minors, being that it's hard to discern age on the internet. Mild erotica is fine though, I don't mind pin-up poses and so on. I'm also going to have to say no to:
  • Hate art aimed at other individual members of fandoms, or a particular group
  • Religious or social propaganda that demeans individuals/ groups
  • 'Innocent' cub/ child/ loli imagery that can be perceived as erotic (filled diapers, incredibly child-like characters in provocative situations etc)
  • ALL discharge based fetishes (I'm honestly not comfortable catering to any fetishes, so please be mindful before asking)

If you're not sure if your idea is porn or erotica, think on these few things:
  • Where is the focus? Is it on the intimacy of the characters? Or is it on the act itself?
  • Do you need several images depicting ejaculation?
  • Have you designed the character to constantly show off genitals regardless of the angle they are drawn at?
  • Have you chosen a reference image right out of a random Pornhub video?

Honestly, if you're unsure, just ask. Send an email to mightydubz@gmail.com and I'll answer any questions you have.

Can I use the art you made me to promote myself?
Sure, go ahead! Just as long as people know I did it and it's simple non-profit things such as your personal blog, your website and free stuff like business cards. However you cannot actively sell my artwork for profit without my prior consent. This includes any commissioned comics, art prints of commissioned works etc. This includes editing the final image, or any progress images you receive while you have employed me, to fit other products such as stickers etc. Unless expressly stated in writing by both the client and myself, the final image is the property of the original artist. I will never give out original working files (.PSD, .CLIP etc) to clients.

If you wish to sell my art for personal profit, then it will either incur extra cost to produce or a share of said profits. I reserve the right to use the art you commissioned from me as personal promotion. I will not sell the art you commissioned of me without your prior consent either, so I expect you to do the same and respect the agreement.

I don't like what you did for me, gimme my money back!
I generally do not do full refunds, except in the case of complete customer dissatisfaction from the start. Partial refunds are worked out from the amount of work up to the point of dissatisfaction. As a rule of thumb, I send via email a rough draft, then the lineart, then the coloured image, all of which need to be checked by the client before I continue. During the colouring phase, I may update on progress or ask questions so I'm not changing things too drastically towards the end. DO NOT HESITATE to inform me of dissatisfaction at any point in the process, or if anything needs changing. I will not continue on with work that has not been confirmed by the client, so communication is key, and also part of why I do not have guaranteed completion times on general commissions.

If complete dissatisfaction arises from the progress, you are entitled to a partial refund of the work not done beyond the completed step, along with any completed work. For example, if you are dissatisfied with my colouring after lineart is done, you will be refunded an amount that would cover the colouring process (in the case of a single character coloured commission, you'd be refunded $40 out of the $80 the full commission cost, including any other extra services such as rush orders). You will also receive the completed lineart. I will endeavor to fix all problems as they arise, and will only offer a refund in the case that no other solution is viable.

Once again, feel free to email me with any questions regarding this.
